In search of Dracula Tour 2009

5 Days / 4 Nights in Romania

Day 1

 

BUCHAREST - SINAIA (105 km)

Arrival at Bucharest airport in the afternoon. Transfer by car, van, minibus or coach to Sinaia in the mountains.
Dinner and accommodation in a 4-star hotel in Sinaia.


Day 2

SINAIA - BRAN - BRASOV - SIGHISOARA (198 km)

Visit the Sinaia Monastery (1695) and the fabulous Peles Castle - summer residence of the Royal family. Drive to Bran and visit “Dracula’s” Castle (1377). Continue to Brasov (formerly Kronstadt, founded by the Saxon colonists) - guided walking tour in the medieval center, including the Black Church. In the afternoon drive to Sighisoara - birthplace of Vlad the Impaler (“Dracula”).
Dinner and accommodation in a 3-star hotel in Sighisoara.


Day 3

 

SIGHISOARA - BORGO PASS (170 km)

Visit the medieval citadel (the “Upper Town”) of Sighisoara: the Clock Tower, the Evangelical Church etc. Drive across Transylvania via Targu Mures and Bistrita (stop in the medieval town center) to the Borgo Pass in the Carpathian mountains (altitude 1,200 m = 3,930 ft.).
Dinner and overnight at the “Dracula Castle” Hotel*** in the Borgo Pass.


Day 4

 

BORGO PASS - POIANA BRASOV (298 km)

In the morning walk in the spectacular scenery around the hotel, and then drive southwards to Poiana Brasov (mountain resort 13 km from Brasov).
Dinner in a typical restaurant in the resort (the Dacians’ Shed or similar).
Accommodation in a 4-star hotel in Poiana Brasov.


Day 5

 

POIANA BRASOV - BUCHAREST Airport (170 km)
Drive across the mountains to Bucharest airport. End of our services.


Notes:
Museums are closed on Mondays. The Peles Castle is also closed on Tuesdays and throughout November. The Black Church is restricted to visitors on Sundays.
This tour can be extended by additional days in Bucharest or Transylvania.
