Taxi Transfers - Important advice before you travel:

It has been brought to our attention that there are some taxi touts working in Bucharest around the airports.

These un-official taxi’s wait in the airport for foreign tourists to enter the country then pose as official taxi drivers. It is not until you arrive at your destination and you are charged 3 or 4 times the going rate that this becomes apparent. It is also worth noting that the vehicles they use are not always in the best condition. Please see below a quote from a recent traveller:

“A word of warning: I think that tourists need to be told that there are rogue taxi drivers in Bucharest (maybe elsewhere) and the police are very interested in their whereabouts.”

“There were people inside the airport trying to find taxi fares. I took one and he charged me the equivalent of £80 to go to my hotel. Then didn't take me all the way to the front door. I knew he was cheating me but did not know what to do about it.”

“The reason he didn't take me to the hotel's front door, I learned later, is that they have CCTV and will check registration plates. The police will revoke the driver's license forever, if they are caught.”
