Mangalia - "The most beautiful of all"
 The name of the resort, attested for the first time in the 12th century, comes from the Byzantine Greek ("Pangalia" or "Pancalia" meaning "the most beautiful"). It is the southernmost resort, with a beach with fine sand and a width of up to 250 m, excellent for wave-therapy and aero-helio-therapy.
The "President" hotel hosts the " Black Sea" Romanian Centre for Business, where international events permanently take place. As a curiosity, the hotel was built on the ruins of the Calatis ancient fortress, preserved and open to visitors in a specially arranged hall inside the building.
The "Mangalia" hotel (3*), with a treatment base for balneary therapies, has 268 rooms and it is opened all year around.
Other interesting places, worth visiting, are the Turkish mosque dating from the 16th century and the Archaeological Museum.
