Cycling Holidays in Romania
Considered as a particular tourist area, the Carpathian territory is accessible to mountain biking. The freedom of movement and the possibility to choose the roads and the halt points, attract Carpathians tourists of various ages.
The cycling tours and contests create a relaxed atmosphere that attracts more and more new adherents.
Given Romania's ideal mountain-biking terrain, it is not surprising that the sport has taken off in a big way in recent years. The most active biking clubs are in Cluj-Napoca, Sibiu, Oradea and Targu Mures.
The Napoca Cyclotourlsm Club (NCq's) elaborate plan for eight mountain-bike routes and eight cycle routes was awaiting approval by the Minister of Tourism. The planned mountainbike routes will be concentrated in the Carpathian Mountains, with routes taking in some of the Carpathians' most spectacular passes and mountain roads. The cycle routes will link all Romania s major cities including Bucharest, Brasov, Cluj-Napoca, Timisoara, Arad, Iasi, Galati and Constanta, and will provide connections to cycle routes in all neighbouring countries.
