Short Tour Of Bulgaria And Romania - 2009

Day 1 - SOFIA
Arrival in Sofia - the capital of Bulgaria. Accommodation and overnight in Sofia.

Day 2 - SOFIA
Departure to the Rila Monastery/10th c/, UNESCO World Heritage site, the largest and the most impressive Bulgarian monastery. Tour of the monastery complex, church and museum with its lavish collection of precious old manuscripts, icons, jewellery, masterpieces of woodcarving, ethnographic exhibition of fabrics and carpets. After drive back to Sofia. Sightseeing tour of Sofia – a city with 7000 years long history, concentrating numerous cultural and historic monuments from different periods. Visits of the Alexander Nevsky Cathedral, the St. George Rotunda from the 4th century, the St.Sofia Basilica, and the Ruins of Serdica. Overnight in Sofia.


Day 3 - SOFIA - KASANLAK - VELIKO TARNOVO
Departure to Veliko Tarnovo via Kasanlak. Sighseeing in Kasanlak. Visit the recently discovered Thracian golden treasures in Kazanlak Historical Museum. Continue with one of the UNESCO’s sites – the Thracian Tomb dating back from the 4th c.BC. Departure to Veliko Tarnovo via the historical Shipka Pass. Overnight in Veliko Tarnovo.


Day 4 - VELIKO TURNOVO - ARBANASSI
Sightseeing of Veliko Turnovo, including Tsarevets hill - an impressive sight with medieval fortifications and dramatic architecture. Departure to the museum town of Arbanassi boasting a genuine gallery of art in its Church of Nativity.
Overnight in Veliko Tarnovo.


 

Day 5 - VELIKO TURNOVO - BUCHAREST
Departure to Bucharest. Arrival at hotel in Bucharest. Lunch in local restaurant.
Bucharest city tour, known for its wide, tree-lined boulevards, glorious Belle Époque buildings and a reputation for the high life (which in the 1900s earned its nickname of “Little Paris”), Bucharest, Romania's largest city and capital, is today a bustling metropolis. Dinner and night in 3 stars hotel.


Day 6 - BUCHAREST - BRASOV / POIANA BRASOV
Departure to Brasov with stops for visits:
Peles Castle: Considered by many one of the most beautiful castles in all Europe, Peles Castle is a masterpiece of German new-Renaissance architecture. Commissioned by King Carol I in 1873 and completed in 1883, Peles' interiors are an opulent display of elegant design and historical artifact. Its 160 rooms are adorned with the finest examples of European art, Murano crystal chandeliers, German stained-glass windows, walls covered with Cordoba leather, Meissen and Sevres porcelains, ebony and ivory sculptures.
Bran Castle - This fortified medieval castle, often referred to as Dracula's Castle, was built in 1377 to protect nearby Brasov from invaders. Bran is home to a rich collection of Romanian and foreign furniture and art items from the 14th-19th centuries. The castle sits high a top at 200 ft. tall rock overlooking the picturesque village of Bran. On the grounds below there is an open-air ethnographic museum of old village buildings with exhibits of furniture, household objects and costumes.

Night in 3 stars hotel in Brasov or Poiana Brasov.


 

Day 7 - BRASOV - TULCEA
In the morning Brasov city tour: Panoramic city tour of Brasov with Black church exterior (open church 10:00h) Brasov's famous landmark and Romania’s leading gothic church, the Black Church towers over the Council Square and the old town: and with visit at St. Nicolas church: Like other medieval churches, it is surrounded by protective walls with large wooden gates. The enclosure shelters a small old cemetery where several prominent people of Romania are buried. The First Romanian School, now a museum, the Library and the Archives of Saint Nicholas Church also are found on nearby grounds.
Departure to Tulcea with stop at Sinaia Monastery.
Lunch with wine at Buzau, a well known winery area.
Dinner and night at 3 stars hotel in Tulcea.

 

 

Day 8 - TULCEA - BUCHAREST
Full day trip in Danube Delta.
Typical lunch with fish.
In the afternoon departure to Bucharest.
Dinner and night in 3 stars hotel.


 

Day 9 - BUCHAREST
Transfer to the airport for departure flight. End of our services.
